Precautions for Nexium

Before taking Nexium (esomeprazole), tell your doctor if you have ever had any type of liver disease. You may not be able to take esomeprazole, or you may require a dosage adjustment or special monitoring. Esomeprazole is in the FDA pregnancy category B. This means that it is unlikely to harm an unborn baby. However, it is not known whether esomeprazole passes into breast milk. Do not take esomeprazole without first talking to your doctor if you are pregnant or breast-feeding a baby. There are no restrictions on food, beverages, or activities while taking esomeprazole, unless otherwise directed by your doctor.

You may not be able to take esomeprazole, or you may require a dosage adjustment or special monitoring if you are taking any of the medicines listed above. Drugs other than those listed here may also interact with esomeprazole. Talk to your doctor and pharmacist before taking any prescription or over-the-counter medicines.
